PRODUCT DETAILS
Get your hands on some wooly wool! In this hands-on introduction to fleece processing, you’ll start at the very beginning and learn the first steps in turning a raw fleece into beautiful, usable fiber.
You’ll learn how to skirt a fleece, identify the fibers worth keeping (and what needs to go), and properly scour your wool to remove dirt, grease, and all the other bits that come along with fleece straight from the sheep. We’ll talk about what to look for when evaluating a fleece, how to handle and wash wool without turning it into one giant felted lump, and how to get your clean fiber ready for the next stages of processing.
This class is designed to give you a solid foundation before moving on to combing, carding, and eventually spinning. Best of all, this isn’t just a demonstration—you’ll actually get your hands into the process and work with the fleece yourself.
You’ll leave with some of the fleece you prepared during class, along with the knowledge and confidence to start tackling raw wool on your own.
Perfect for beginners. No previous fleece-processing or spinning experience is necessary. All materials are included.
